Farrelly Adds Great Lakes Legends Series to Racing Resume for 2023

Tuesday February14, 2023 (Guelph, Ontario) – Junior Farrelly Motorsports is pleased to announce that they will be competing in the Great Lakes Legends Series in select races for upcoming 2023 season.
The Great Lakes Legends Series is entering their second year of competition after a very successful inaugural 2022 season. The series tests drivers on multiple disciplines including asphalt and dirt ovals along with road courses honing the skills of the next stars of tomorrow alongside the best Legend Car drivers of today. The tentative 2023 edition is made up of 12 races across 5 tracks in South Western Ontario including Full Throttle, Grand Bend, Sauble and Flamboro Speedway’s with one event scheduled at Flat Rock Speedway in Michigan.
Farrelly had been approached by series director and co-founding partner Blake Outhouse to participate in 2022 at a dirt race in Brighton Speedway but scheduling conflicts with an APC race prevented the deal from coming together. This offseason the two sat down together to discuss their plans for 2023 season and were able to put together a schedule that will see Farrelly wheel one of the Great Lakes house cars at 5 events. This will be Farrelly’s first time behind the wheel of a Legends car and is something the veteran racer is excited about. “Last year I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to venture out and race with the Can-Am Midget club which was a lot of fun and something completely different from what I was used to with the Late Models. It opened my eyes and created a desire to try different racing disciplines, something running with the Great Lakes Legends Series will continue to fulfill. I cannot thank Blake and Dan Russ owner of DRM Motorsports enough for this opportunity and am excited to run with series and help them continue to grow their brand during the 2023 race season”.
Farrelly will be piloting the Spartan Sling Manufacturing #300 Legend ride in all 5 events with plans to unveil the car at the upcoming Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo. Spartan Sling is a family owned company based out of Windsor Ontario and manufactures alloy chain slings, nylon slings and wire rope slings to customer specifications for all their rigging requirements.

Initial plans have Farrelly starting the year out at the second race of the year at Full Throttle Speedway at Varney on Sunday May 21st while pulling double duty competing in the Late Model division where he captured the 2022 track championship.
Farrelly will then return to the seat on Saturday July 1st at Sauble Speedway where he will again be doubling down with the Can-Am Midgets club in a TQ he recently purchased from Tim Kovacs whom he drove for in 5 races last season capturing two podiums and 4 top 5’s finishes.
Next up will be a return trip to Sauble on the civic holiday weekend racing both Saturday and Sunday August 5th and 6th. Saturday will be a triple bill for Farrelly as he attempts to make history and run in all 3 divisions in one day joining the APC United Late Models and Can-Am Midgets in addition to the Legends ride for what is sure to be a hectic day of racing action at one of Farrelly’s favorite tracks. “I love racing at Sauble and definitely have this weekend circled on our calendar. There is a lot that goes into running 3 divisions in one day logistically, but I am confident in our crew’s ability to prepare for and have a legitimate shot at competitive finishes in all 3 classes. It is definitely a challenge to switch between the diverse classes one right after another, but I wouldn’t have it any other way as I believe this just makes you a better racer and I absolutely love the challenge”. Sunday will see Farrelly running with both the Great Lakes Legends and Can-Am Midgets classes to wrap up a busy week of racing at “The Beach” as the team also plans on competing in the mid-week Wednesday night Dash for Cash driving their Full Throttle Late Model in the United 8 division.
The final race planned with the Legends will be on Saturday September 30th at Flamboro Speedway as part of their season finale Frost Fest Invitational weekend.
The Great Lakes Legends Series will be attending and having a strong presence at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo at Toronto’s International Centre on March 10th-12th. Be sure to stop by their booth to learn more about the series and let them know if you are interested in participating and they will work with you to see if there is an opening for your team.
